A look inside a world of luxury and relaxation at the Marijani Beach Resort and Spa in Zanzibar, Tanzania. This is a boutique resort inspired by the spice islands past, set on the east coast peaceful beach.
On arrival we were greeted by friendly staff and a glass of refreshing kombucha as we waited to be escorted to our room for the duration of our stay. The resort full of luxury is attentive to the needs of their guests and are proactive in predicting what you may require. I can say this safely as we had a late arrival to check-in at which point dinner service was closed, but they had prepared gourmet sandwiches accompanied by sides of chips and salad incase we arrived hungry, of which I had, so this made me very hungry as the foodie that I am:)
The island is very humid even in the evening times, but being greeted by a chilled room from their air conditioning was gladly received by me. The television had a personal message on it for us to read, highlighting their attention to detail and making one feel most welcome and at home.
We booked our stay all-inclusive meaning our meals were available for us from morning to night time. The set up is buffet style and seating of your choice either indoors or out near the beach. Everything one could need was provided from the freshest fruits and pastries, a range of fresh juices and muesli bowls, to eggs cooked to your preference and much much more. This meant often times I ate twice in the day not needing to indulge in lunch because I simply did not have the room in me. That is a good problem to have. Trust me.
Dinners were the most exciting due to the range of offering of cuisine from Swahili specialties, fresh seafood dishes (I got to try octopus for the first time during my stay:) Fresh raw ceviche, just the most beautiful little plates of appetizers. I had to be careful not to get carried away with those because there was still the main to see myself through and let us not forget the decadent or light fruity desserts to conclude. The dining experience is any food lovers sanctuary. Each evening offered different dishes to the evening prior keeping you excited and looking forward to the next meal.
And if that was not enough, there was live performances every night from dancers to the most talented singers to serenade you as you enjoy your meal. The experiences really were truly memorable and allowed guests to further immerse themselves in their stay and join the performers as they would be frequently invite guest and couples to come on the dance floor, giving some of us who do not have the best dancing abilities an even more wonderful experience.
There is so much I could say about this lovely resort but words would not do it any justice. I invite anyone who enjoys the finer things in life, good food and entertainment that is not overly stimulating by enjoyable and relaxing to consider booking their stay at the Marijani. I know you will not regret it!
